SACRAMENTO

Russo doesn't have the free reign ever since Bush blackmailed Simon into running the race how Bush wants it run. Remember, Bush lost 2000's popular vote. The California Gov. will be elected by a popular vote. I hope Simon wins, I just don't think he will based upon his "non-campaign" campaign. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The threat was on TV, I did it physically the next morning and let them know why in no kind terms.
I've also spent my life in construction and they can take their "green" programs, anti mining and loging, and anti oil drilling and stick them where the sun doesn't shine. Minerals are where the good lord put them and lumber comes from trees that grow where they are, not where some enviromentalist would like so you have to obtain them where they are and not where the whackos tell you that it's OK!
At the risk of sounding ignorant, I have 3 questions:
1) Don't cars emit carbon MONOXIDE?
2)Don't humans emit carbon DIOXIDE?
3)Don't plants convert carbon DIOXIDE into oxygen?
Interesting proposal. There is legal justification for it, too. From The Feds Depression and the Birth of the New Deal
In 1942..."Ohio dairy farmer Roscoe Filburn was prosecuted successfully by the compassionate federal government for violating the Agricultural Adjustment Act by growing grain for his familys direct use. In a unanimous decision, the now-tamed Supreme Court ruled that Filburn had engaged in interstate commerce by not engaging in it. Filburn, the Court ruled, should have purchased the grain with which he fed his cows, chickens, and family, not raised it himself. In order to permit the federal government a wide range of action, New Dealers destroyed the doctrine of enumerated powers."
CO is a byproduct of incomplete burning of hydrocarbons, such as gasoline. CO2 is the final form when burning is complete. (The other main byproduct is water vapor.)
When an engine burns gasoline, it typically doesn't burn every last drop of gas completely, especially if insufficient oxygen was available to some molecules of gas. Some carbon monoxide results, but not nearly as much as the carbon dioxide that is generated.
Oxygenated gasoline is required in some places to reduce the cumulative emission of carbon monoxide and other poisonous chemicals by making burning more complete. MTBE and ethanol are oxygenates that may be added to satisfy "clean-burning" requirements, but MTBE was found to leak into groundwater. It was supposed to be phased out by the end of this year, but, fearing ethanol would raise gas prices steeply, which would hurt his reelection campaign, Davis extended the deadline by one year.
Plants use carbon dioxide and release oxygen during photosynthesis. The opposite occurs during respiration, but, overall, more oxygen than carbon dioxide is released.
It's not the former. Even if CARB won't make the legislature raise gas taxes, impose mileage penalties, or impose surcharges based on the type of car, they can still ban particular models of cars, require curtailment of vehicle emissions, (maybe set vehicle weight limits, ) set ownership goals for non-traditionally powered cars, etc. -- all to reduce harmless carbon dioxide.
This bill is just a ploy to get re-elected.
Saying "no hard feelings" after calling me a buttwhipe isn't my idea of an appology. I didn't personally attack you, I just stated what I perceive as the truth: Simon is running a horrible campaign.
A. When I had the paper I offered Simon very positive, anti-Riordan coverage last fall before the election. The idiotic campaign manager couldn't even find ten minutes for Simon to speak with a CONSERVATIVE paper in Los Anglese FROM HIS HOME TOWN, PACIFIC PALISADES. Having grown up in Los Angeles I couldn't stand Riordan since he was nothing more than a Democrat in sheep's clothing.
B. Davis is tearing Simon a new one in the press and in TV commercials. I've seen but one silly ad that Simon has come out with. One. I'm on Simon's mailing list and I see his press releases a few times a week. They appear to be poorly thought out visa-vis the news of the week.
C. Volunteers. About two weeks ago the Simon campaign sent out an e-mail to those on his list requesting volunteers to work on his campaign. I called and offered my services, that is 22 years of Republican campaign experience working for Reagan, Dornan, Bruce Herschenso, Pete Wilson, Duekmajian, Dan Idiot Lungren, varios Assembly candidates as well as running a politically conservative newspaper out of Los Angeles (how many of those are there in LA?). I called the minute I got the e-mail. Zip, zero, nada, nothing. I've spoken to two other people from my Church who have also called the campaign to volunteer and they have heard nothing also. Logic would suggest that perhaps the lady who is running the volunteer aspect of the campaign is a Democrat since they've succeeded in turning me and others off the Simon campaign.
Simon knew he was a long shot and a dark horse. But, evidently, enough folks liked him and supported him after Davi$ massacred Riordan in the press (Actually, I think Riordan and his wife committed politicide myself).
Riordan was politically dead before Davis started on him. Simon was saying the right things before the March election: Vote for me and you'll get Ronald Reagan. I didn't know a single Republican in L.A., Riordan's hometown, that supported Riordan. We all detested him. We enjoyed what we were hearing from Simon. Now we hear nothing. He's too busy moving to the center and waffling on gun control and illegal aliens. He is also pretty silent on what programs he's going to cut if he takes office.
The fact that Davi$ has already blown both his feet off and its only mid-July and he is using all his heavy ammo in the ads , says to me, Fine , take your shot. We'll see what he has left after Labor Day. After all this crap slung on SiMon, you'd think how much more could there be :-? Don't answer that.
Uhmmm..I don't know how to break it to you sir, but Davis hasn't even gotten warmed up. He is the most politically astute California politician I've ever seen. Sure, he makes mistakes and I'm not saying he's supper man, but I was extremly impressed how he came from behind in 1998, down double digits at one point, to beat the snot out of Lungren (sp?). It was the largest percentage victory in the History of California if I remember correctly. He has energized his base, teachers, social workers, immigrants, union workers and ofcourse, the all-powerful pro-choice (death) crowd. Let's just say that Simon seems to lack the fire in the belly that burns a tad too bright in Davis.
In summation, I hope Simon wins, he'll just have to do it without me and my family.
You are one emotional person. What is your emotional investement in this campaign? I state the obvious and you act like you've just run out of Prozac or something. Make sure your prescription is filled before November 5th, you're going to need it if you can't handle a little political observation.
