Some SUV drivers get more aggressive because of the bulk they are riding in. Are they more dangerous than any other drivers? I dunno. What I do know is that they don't like it much when they are tailgating me at rush hour and I downshift suddenly, causing them to slam on their brakes (and, inevitably to almost lose control because they have never learned the simple laws of physics re center of gravity and mass). Poor babies.

I drive an automatic (one day I'll learn to drive a stick, really), so there isn't any downshifting. Still, my car is a junk heap (it's a BMW junk heap, so it's still fun to drive because I can do tight turns at 60) and as such I'm not one to mind a few extra dents. When someone tailgates me, I simply let off the accelerator and very lightly tap the brake pedal -- it isn't enough to make the pads hit anything, but it does cause the brake light to come on as my vehicle slows down. Quite unnerving, at least it seemed that way to the driver of the pickup who decided to ride my bumper yesterday (I was passing another vehicle while doing around 65 in a 55 -- apparently that wasn't fast enough).
