Did you ever think that the companies are just as much at fault as the smokers?

The companies make their workforce go outside to smoke and don't provide ashtrays, saying FU to the smokers.

The smokers recprocate by messing the place up saying FU to the company.

Wrong. Nice spin.

I am repeating what you impleid; the company is follwing the path of Naziism. Is that not what you meant? If not, then please explain your comparison using Hitler.

It's all about CONTROL, nohorse!

It's all about the MONEY.

Employee health insurance is a huge cost for any company. I'm sure you've seen the lengths companies have gone to to reduce the cost of health insurance over the last couple of decades.

The fact is smokers cost more to insure. By instituting this policy they force some of their workers to either give up smoking or leave and look for employment elsewhere. Plus, any new workers they hire in the future are likely to be non-smokers because, this policy is almost unworkable for anyone that smokes.

Bottom line is they will reduce their health insurance costs by doing this. Follow the money if you want to know what is going on.

If the death certificate says on it: death by SHS; then the doctor who signs it is a liar. I sympathize with your friend, but no honest doctor can sign a death certificate that way.

They could sign it, cause of death: emphysema or cause of death: lung cance, but anyone who says that they can sign a death certificate, cause of death: lung cancer brought on by second hand smoke, is a liar.

As for your empty promise to remember me with a special title, just remember it's MR.

You can title me anything, eg; Mr. A$$hole or Mr. Dip$tick, but if you don't call me Mister, tough guy, it's I who will remember you.

And furthermore, I won't be holding my breath for you to post the death certificate of your friend, because I have it from a reliable source that you have no friends.

The absence of a trashcan is no excuse to throw my sandwich wrapper on someone else's lawn.

She has lung cancer, the cause is second hand smoke. If you are as sure in your remarks that it is not, then I don't doubt it. It is in keeping with the rest of your posts on FR.

Cheers.

Ruckus, a lot of people aren't as polite as you are. Haven't you ever heard the phrase, "passive-aggressive"?

I even field strip my butts in my own backyard, but we find inconsiderate folks on both sides of the aisle in this debate.

I don't doubt for a minute, sir and/or madame, that you have a non-smoking friend that's unfortunately dying of lung cancer.

What I said was that no honest doctor could arbitrarily attribute a cause to a non-smoker getting lung cancer.

I know that the majority of lung cancers are attributed to smoking, but if you had been following the smoking threads for the last couple of years you'd know that SHS does not cause anything, let alone lung cancer.

As for your remarks concerning my posts on this forum, here's the return volley:

What delusions do you indulge to imagine that you would win any popularity contests on this forum?

Cheers!

Sorry, not here for a popularity contest; could care less.

She has lung cancer. It is a result of second hand smoke. They can tell the difference in lung cancer from between asbestos and second hand smoke. Thats all it is. Doesn't matter to me who does or doesn't believe it. Check with the doctors at OHSU in Portland, they are the ones treating her. Her tumor is large enough to have collapsed one lung and blocked half her bronchial tube. Speaking of Nazis, her and her husband came here from Poland, fleeing the Nazis. Ironic, eh?

Ditto.
;O)

How old is your friend that she and her husband came here fleeing the Nazi invasion of Poland, if I may ask?

(By the way, I am well aware of the Freeper rule, and it was not me who referenced Nazis.)

God bless you. But it's not a matter of politeness. It's a matter of basic respect for the property of others. Now I know that all smokers here always use their car ashtrays and never throw their butts out the window, however, it's the slobs that are creating the poor image.

Bingo!

In this day and age it's all about image and I agree 100% that this is what allows the demonization.

This image making is what will make it easier for the Food Police to demonize the overweight as slobs not worthy of any consideration, the demonization of gun owners as drooling murderers and the demonization of Conservatives as thoughtless cretins.

It's all P.R. Maybe smokers should hire a high-powered PR outfit to sanitize their image or start picking up their damn butts themselves.

But you know what, Ruckus?

It wouldn't matter if smokers were all neat freaks with 160 IQs, they would still be demonized on some grounds and hounded out of the public square.

Why aren't bar and restaurant owners given the same choice?

It's strange, according to "THEM" Bars and Reastaurants are public, other businesses are private, double talk again, glad you're on your toes.... I missed that one. :-}

I don't really give a hoot if one smokes in his/her car, but i don't want to breath that poison while i'm at the work place. I see no problem with not allowing smoking inside the plant, but the car thing is a little too far.
