The article makes sense. The Gov't does tend to over react to terror. For example the terrorism bill and Brady bill passed after OKC. With 911 we got the Patriot Act which even some law makers started having some regrets about soon after it passed.

As far as some of the measures taken after 9/11 I do have some concerns. The War on Terror holds greater promise for chipping away at the Bill of Rights than the War on Drugs (e.g., 4th Amend). But I'm also concerned about national security.

When push comes to shove the gov't never gives back rights it has taken away. Right now some basic rights are being denied to accused terrorists. I'm not boo hooing over that. But the way things usually work is that the gov't will push the limits all they can.
