As I said, the evangelicals were not turning out in the numbers that were expected by Bush and Rove... If you won't work for them, why should they work for you?

So, Rove didn't get the turnout of conservatives he expected to get when he ran a liberal campaign, therefore he will turn to group who he expects can get them elected?

Is that correct?

If so, isn't it slightly hypocritical to condemn conservatives for looking elsewhere for a Presidential candidate when the current one disappoints?

So, are we abandoning the "Bush is Looking at the BIG Conservative Picture" argument now?

What makes you the arbiter of "conservative" campaigns? I think he's pretty conservative. He just doesn't have the hard edge others have, and he's also smart enough to pick his fights. He's patient, and he'll come back for more later.

I'm not looking for someone to jump off a cliff. Let's get what we can and go for the rest later, when the poltical terrain is more advantageous for us. Principle is fine and dandy, but you don't get to translate them into policy if you lose elections.
