[history]
It's not usually hard to feel sorry for little guys who get crushed by an overreaching and arbitrary government agency.
But what if the little guys are millionaires, and the "crushing" includes a taxpayer bailout of their failing savings and loan? The clear lines in such a story, admittedly, get a little hazier.

this commercial is a cynical attempt by Davis to mislead ill-informed voters. Well, that's EXACTLY what Davis intends to do for the next five months. Of course, he could explain California's newly minted $29 BILLION deficit and why it's not his fault. But that would require a degree of honesty Mr. Davis has never had.

Thanks for posting this. I was about to after receiving the article via email. This should be re-posted daily and Simon should get on the stick and rebut the accusations made in the Left Angeles Times on the front page today. Semper Fi

Simon's business record is fair game. But this commercial is a cynical attempt by Davis to mislead ill-informed voters. While it is true that the savings and loan failed, the business went down only after the government broke its word to the investors. Simon is not the villain here. He is the victim.

Thanks for posting this.
Weintraub continues to be critical of the Davis administration which is great!

This MUST be a first, for Weintraub.

This MUST be a first, for Weintraub. Actually Weintraub hasn't been too bad in this campaign. He wrote a great piece on Simon in the primary.

Simon is still a long way from proving that his background in business would make him a good governor. But the Western Federal story, rather than being an example of bad management, is a clear-cut case of bad government. If Davis can't see that, maybe he is the one who is unfit to be governor. Love it!
Dump Davis!

Davis can see it alright. It's just that for 'rats, truth is no consideration.

You're probably right, but I also think that as people realize Davis is lying about this, everything else he says will be called into question, or summarily dismissed.
So, either Davis doesn't care, or he thinks that no one is paying attention and he's just trying to get Simon to waste money five months before the election. Because that is exactly what is going on: there is no good reason to be on tv this early in the game when NO ONE outside of people like us are paying any attention to the election.
Let Davis waste his money.
