Do the Committee members have any power to do anything or is this headed to the courts?They really don't have any power except to ask questions, yada yada. Bill Lockyer, a liberal Democrat, is the Attorney General and can shut down the hearings at any time by claiming he's going to prosecute someone ... and then drag that out indefinitely, and all behind closed doors. However, I don't know how well that would play to the media, so I think this whole thing needs to be watched very closely. While I have no love for the liberal press, they definitely don't like be excluded from anything.
