OK, if you say so.

But, may I point out that Presidents Eisenhower and Taylor devoted their entire adult lives to serving America? And may I further point out that your quoted excerpt says that Mr. Justice Harlan did not vote or show any partisianship while he was serving on the Supreme Court? Does not mention the rest of his life.

I am prepared to concede the argument if you can prove to me that you are a retired General, have been President of the United States or are a Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court.

After all, Generals, Presidents and Supreme Court Justices are not "keyboard kowboys" sitting around bitching about what is going on. They are "engaged in the action and passion of their times." And they all make a difference, one way or the other!

I'm not any of the things you mentioned nor is it necessary for me to be so, as you well know. You don't want to "concede" anything. You just want to browbeat me and call me a "keyboard kowboy" because I stand on my principles and have the temerity to tell you that you're wrong.

Yeah, right. What I've done or not done doesn't matter one iota regarding my ability to complain and you know it.
And FYI, there are any number of people in those positions who have been nothing more than "desk jockeys" and "paper pushers" theirselves.
You say...OK, if you say so. then go on with your little rant.
What you really mean is...I say so, therefore it is so.
Bite me and get off my back and go about your little tax scheme and quit telling others what to do! You sound just like a Democrat when you do so!

We have an election coming up in November. Get involved between now and then, and above all else, vote!

You don't read so well do you! Quit telling others what to do! You're no master over me and I desire none either.
I'll do as my own conscience directs and I'll thank you to keep your "advice" to yourself.

Methinks I have somehow struck a nerve.

It is a FRee country -- you can do as you please, consistent with staying within the confines of the Constitution.

The manner in which you choose to be engaged or disengaged in the action and passion of our times is of no interest to me. If, however, you choose to be disengaged, it hardly seems proper for you to bitch about the outcome.

I am merely a cheerleader for engagement as being the proper role for an American citizen in the 21st Century.

Yeah, you keep telling me what to do when you have no place to do so. Slavery was ended some time ago.
...you can do as you please...
No I can't...Get involved between now and then, and above all else, vote!...You keep telling me what to do!
We're not in the military and I'm no buck private that you can order around. You need to break out of your military indoctrination. You're in the civilian world now and your orders don't carry the weight they used to. Get used to it!
If, however, you choose to be disengaged, it hardly seems proper for you to bitch about the outcome.
I can be "disengaged" all I want and I can still bitch about anything I want and there isn't a thing you can do about it. Your it hardly seems proper has sure changed from If you don't, you cannot complain...
That hardly seems proper. In fact it's backpedalling. You spent waaaaay too much time in the military. You obviously think you're still in it. Engage and disengage are terms relating to an enemy, not your fellow Citizens.

I am merely a cheerleader for engagement as being the proper role for an American citizen in the 21st Century.
Yeah, you're cheerleading all right. I don't think it has anything to do with "the proper role for an American citizen in the 21st Century" though.
Isn't my emotional involvement or commitment, which is also engagement, enough or must it require my physical presence?
Methinks thou doth requireth physical presence for thy needs to be met, not mine.

Methinks it is time for you to disengage. Your passion is misguided and misdirected. And it is affecting your sense of balance. I no longer will respond to your rants.

The Senate passed their version of the bill last night with 71 votes which is veto proof.

Congress has whipped Bush again. The House passed their version with a higher dollar amount than Bush wanted and the Senate version was even higher yet.

The House, Senate, and the White House will negotiate a compromise and Bush will have to sign it.

And when he signs it, everyone will blame him.

Never fear, I'll still respond to your absurdities.
