It's a close friendship that has only recently drawn concern because Burkle's companies have clinched deals to invest state pension fund money totaling as much as $760 million.

This article is from Saturday as were several others. As has been pointed out, it looks like a Clintonian holiday document dump. All the papers can say they reported this (but few read it). Be interesting to see which, if any, papers follow through this week.

And ever since Davis was a state assemblyman representing Beverly Hills in the 1980s, he has been able to count on Ron Burkle to chip in to his donations have grown, totaling $612,000 since 1998, when the governor took office. Few Davis donors can match that.
