During a marathon legislative hearing into the Oracle computer software scandal -- one that ended after 1:30 a.m. Tuesday -- state Sen. Steve Peace, D-El Cajon, framed the matter as "a fundamental question of who was pushing this."
Indeed it is. Why did high-level aides to Gov. Gray Davis, including his all-purpose troubleshooter, Susan Kennedy, give Oracle a $95 million no-bid contract whose provisions were not even checked by state lawyers or verified by state financial analysts?
