The problem is both of them are too radical for my tastes. Larkin and Frank should be gone and a new generation of Republican activists should take place. Bring on the Libertarian oriented Republicans over the left and right leaning advocates.
The problem is that when the so-called "libertarian-leaning" Republicans get into office, they often morph into Riordan-like creatures.
I'm libertarian, myself, but the truly libertarian-leaning Republicans in California are a rare breed. Too many think that "libertarian" means anti-Christian, IMO.
