In the weeks following last month's primary election, labor unions pumped more than $675,000 into Gov. Gray Davis' re-election effort, padding his huge lead over Republican businessman Bill Simon in the all-important contest for campaign cash.

Since March 5, state records show that Davis has collected more than $1.5 million in contributions of $5,000 or more. By contrast, Simon has raised about $800,000 in large donations during the same period.

If you really want to do the job with a bumper sticker, here it is: 'SIMON, HE'S THE SANE ONE' It looks like a little fund raising is in order.

Might work better than 'Grecian Formula' to get the gray out.

Okay - we have a FReeping list - now all we need is a list of "bad" things Davis has done during his tenure. Anybody know where I can get such a list??

I would like to prepare a little message for all the donee's on Davis' list. I want them to know we are taking notes on their support for such a corrupt man ... and it will mean less dollars for their products.

If Davis spends his own money as wisely as he did the taxpayers we have nothing to worry about!

Well ... not in San Diego County - we still outnumber dems by more than 100,000 registered voters.

"Well ... not in San Diego County - we still outnumber dems by more than 100,000 registered voters."

That didn't help your incumbent Republican congressman in 2000...

That's because he didn't have the will to win (even he admitted that to me in person in Wash. D.C. several months later). Also, because of the FL mess - lots and lots of repubs stayed home instead of voting. I have talked to a lot of them who have now realized it doesn't matter what the press says ... VOTE!!! anyway!!!

That's the Rep fault... I used to live in CA and remember voting for my candidate knowing they had already lost...

Well ... not all people see voting the same way! I don't fault people for not being as politically active as I am. It's their choice! But, if the dems think San Diego is an easy target - they will be in for a BIG surprise.

Yes we will... Simon can't even get a simple campaign donation from within his own party... How do you think he's gonna win an election?

"How do you think he's gonna win an election?"

Well, Davis could do a few more things, like he's done in his first term, to help. I can't count on him to 'shoot himself in the foot'---he's too anti-gun for that. Maybe Gray will 'abort' himself---that's more in line with his issues.

Simon will win because "Simon says ..."
