What Hillary Should Know About Gray and Women

New York Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton treks west today to raise money for Gray Davis and Cruz Bustamante.

Hillary will also reportedly appear with Gray to announce a women's coalition supporting the guv.

Before gushing about Gray, Hillary may want to consult with some California women who have not had pleasant experiences with Gray . . . including her Senate colleague Dianne Feinstein.

After Davis ran an ad during his 1992 senate race against Feinstein comparing Feinstein to convicted tax scofflaw Leona Helmsley, female leaders had quite a bit to say about Gray.

"A desperate and despicable man...I'm embarrassed to call him a Democrat."
Assemblywoman Jackie Speier,
Sacramento Bee, May 29, 1992

"There are, unfortunately, people out there who are uncomfortable with women in any position of power. This plays on those fears. I think this is very sexist. I'm very disappointed Gray Davis would sink to this very questionable tactic."
Linda Joplin, California state coordinator
National Organization of Women
Sacramento Bee, May 29, 1992

"It is an unwarranted, unsubstantiated personal attack that is beyond the bounds of normal politics."
Ellen Malcolm, President of Emily's List
Sacramento Bee May 29, 1992

Gray Davis should be ashamed of himself... it (the ad) raises questions about his fitness to hold any public office.
Sacramento Bee Editorial, May 30, 1992

Hillary may also want to consult with State Controller Kathleen Connell, who has been the target of a sexist attack by Gray's spokesman after she dared to question expenses for take-out Sushi by Gray's energy consultants.

"Unless (Connell) wants to go home and bake a few pans of lasagna for the guys on the front lines who are trying to keep the lights on, she should stick to the job of writing checks," says spokesman Steve Maviglio.
San Francisco Chronicle, July 25, 2001

And here is what Davis political boss Garry South has to say about Ms. Connell.

"(Connell) is a viper. She's one of the most vile people I've ever known in politics."
Garry South
San Diego Union-Tribune, July 15, 2001

And last but not least, is this excerpt from New Times Los Angeles.

Long protected by the news media, the baby-faced Davis has been allowed to move higher and higher in public office despite his history of physical violence, unhinged hysteria, and gross profanity.

Perhaps the worst incident was Davis' attack four years ago on a woman we'll call K, his loyal executive secretary in Los Angeles who acted as chief apologist for his violent "incidents."

On that day in question, state controller Davis was in a purple rage because an employee had re-arranged framed bond sale notices on his office walls. When K. entered his office, he shouted "F***ing pictures!" and violently shoved her out of his way, according to employees who were present. K. ran out, broke down in sobs, and was briefly hospitalized at Cedars Sinai for a severe, stress related dermatological reaction.

New Times Los Angeles, November 27, 1997

Women for Davis? More like "Women Beware!"

Not fact, speculation. Facts were impossible because the body was whisked away without an autopsy. The family (probably paid off handsomely and/or threatened viciously) denied autopsy access. Don't even know if that's legal, but that's what happened. No mafia coverup was ever handled as smoothly as the Mary Jo murder.

Well, they're both from New York (Gray, originally, and Hitlary via Illinois, Arkeensaw, and Washington DC).
