I think Simon is an empty suit (all airy generalities, and a phony smile), and lacks the experience. I think Davis has been a moderate governor, and has leashed the Dems well in the legislature. He is avoiding tax increases.

But heck, maybe the campaign will bring me home. I can't rule that out. I normally don't cross party lines.

I think Davis has been a moderate governor, and has leashed the Dems well in the legislature. The article explained how Davis has sold out to the teacher's unions and leftwing homosexual activists, all at the expense of kids and parents. And yet you call his abominable behavior "moderate"? gack! something like a 37% real increase in state spending on his watch. hardly 'moderate'.

He is avoiding tax increases. ... like with the energy crisis, he lacks the courage and vision to make the hard choices now. So you have an $18B hole he has YET to fill, and you will pay MORE later. Since he is in the pocket of the govt worker unions, he will *not* cut state spending enough to fill that huge gap, and tax increases in one form or another will come. ... HE IS CLINTON WITHOUT THE CHARISMA. .... AT BEST!!

He is avoiding tax increases... until after the election

Davis is using 'funky accounting' to try to get his budget to balance this year, and the LAO isn't buying it. He's cutting the school's budgets THIS year, with millions in MID-YEAR cuts, something unheard of, all so he can restore the funding levels next year and tout it as "increasing the budget for schools again" With the LAO predicting many more years of deficit budgets, how can anyone balance it, except for tax increases (after he safely wins re-election, of course!)
