The male menopause was a myth spread by drug firms to boost the multimillion dollar market for impotence treatments, she said. Agree, agree, agree. I thought, though, that 'male menopause' was more a fantasy dreamed up by women who did not want to be the only ones with hormonal problems.
If the drug firms are behind it, then they are likely working on products to treat the increase in prostate disease that the unnecessary use of testosterone will produce.

I thought, though, that 'male menopause' was more a fantasy dreamed up by women who did not want to be the only ones with hormonal problems. The same physical changes happen to men as happen to women. If you look at a 20 year old man and woman and then at a 70 year old man and woman, it's apparent. You don't see many 50 year old men able to compete with 20 year old men in sports which require testosterone.

From a natural point of view, there's no reason why male menopause should exist. Now with a woman, it's different. Her body is put upon to carry and feed the child, obviously requiring a younger, more fit body. But the man's role in procreation wouldn't bring harm to him or the impending child if he is older.
