Davis is a dufuss still, and as a career democrat, he remains about as bad a leader as this state can expect. Let's all keep faith in California's future, and do what we can to ensure Simon's our next governor.
Thanks for the post and your long efforts.
Warmest Regards,
Sean, from Newport Bch.

Simon would be helped by some blackouts

Gee, you mean Gray Davis still doesn't understand market economics and would rather pander to the environazis than build more power generation capacity? What a surprise! </sarcasm>
It would be nice if the crap hits the fan (again) sometime between Labour Day and Halloween. This doofus has got to get some experience in the private sector.

How could this be? Our wonderful Governor Davis fixed all of the energy problems months ago.

You F****** guys just don`t get it..Grey Davis is the only reason the lights are on in Californicate. He cares. He worked as hard as he ever worked [ for at least 30 mins.]to make sure Cal. has muy macho [see, I use your lingo, vote for me] electric bills. Now, if you lose power, its Bill Simons fault cause he`s not going to vote for Grey..by the way, grey KNOWS who took the strawberries

about California's energy future...little has changed since the brownouts of a year ago except for two favorable factors beyond the state's control: the economy and the weather..Gov Davis and the Democratically controlled legislature should be so proud. Oh, wait a minute, what will the the bond rating folks say? Will the bond rating folks say, nothing has structurally changed from when the state went into debt to the tune of $12+billion except the weather and the economy, so repayment of state bonds should be just fine?? No they are not likely to say that. Will the rating agencies realize that the high natural gas prices are gone, yes. Will California need to say they are going to do something structural and also show that there is a secure revenue repayment stream? Probably, if California is serious about issuing bonds at a reasonable price.

Just remember that Pres Bush stated one year ago that this country is heading for a major power crisis. Then came the Enron fiasco. Then came the Sept 11 attacks. Then came the economic downturns. Then came the DROUGHTS which can effect infrastructure.
It appears to me that there will be some very serious issues over the next few months heading into summer.
However, I hope not!

Well, it's nice to see FERC say what those of us who have been closely following this have been saying.
Gray Davis has NOT solved the problem, and he's actually making it worse. It's no wonder that power generators are cancelling plans to build plants. Davis has made California the most inhospitable place for power producers to be.
He still hasn't rescinded his declaration of emergency from last year when he was threatening to seize plants. He's still suing the producers. He's still trying to kill any last vestiges of deregulation.
Meanwhile, California's population continues to skyrocket to 46,801,900 in 2025, an increase of 38.2 percent above the state's population in 2000.
These folks will want to use some electricity, and Davis is driving the producers to other states. If you don't see a disaster coming, you ain't looking.

I'm actually hoping for it. It will lend more urgency to opening up ANWR for drilling.
Anything that results in greater domestic energy production is good news

That sounds about right. The only thing is that if Davis gets out of the current contracts, not only will power companies never contract with California again, but they will contract to sell their power elsewhere and leave California with only the spot market to meet state needs.
Davis can only bite the hand that feeds him so often.

Thanks for posting this!
I have posting for months that the recession in California caused by Davis/Clintoon and the gas prices last year have closed businesses all over Kali. and many are on reduced hours. Closed businesses and reduced hour businesses don't use a lot of electricity. This and the cooler weather reduced a lot of blackouts that would have happened last year.
The production on many new power plants has been stopped or is advancing on a slow level. Who would want to invest massive amounts of money in a Fascist State controlled by the insane Herr Davis and his tax/spend anti business socialists in the legislature?
Does anyone want to buy any of Herr Davis's stupid bonds to pay for our free lunches of electricity used in 2001?
In fact is anything even going on with Herr Davis's bond nightmare?
Herr Davis's insane responses and actions this past week in San Diego at the local newspaper show that this insane Fascist is like Captain Queeg on his last legs!
Retire Davis in 2002 and elect Simon. Then have a grand jury investigate Davis for the crimes he and his thugs have committed in 2000/2001. Then indict, try and convict Davis.
Then let Davis and Condidit be cell mates for the next 30 years!
