Knesset Members To Lobby For Pollard's Release |
An official Knesset delegation will visit the American Congress for the express purpose of achieving the release of Jonathan Pollard. The delegation, headed by MK Michael Kleiner (Herut), will also include MKs Mickey Eitan (Likud) and Ophir Paz (Labor). Kleiner, who returned last week from a visit with Pollard in his North Carolina prison cell, said that the recent petition signed by all 110 Knesset Members of the Jewish parties has had an effect in Congress. Jonathan Pollard is now into his 17th year of a prison sentence for the crime of "spying for Israel; others convicted of similar crimes have been sentenced to no more than 2-4 years. The petition was organized by private citizens, and calls for President Bush to pardon Pollard. The three MKs will personally present the petition to the individual Members of Congress. |

I support Israel. But Pollard is a spy, and should complete his sentence, whatever it is.

This traitor did extreme damage to this country by his actions. He time in prison should be commensurate with the damage which he did.
To: Citizen Tom Paine
Pollard refuses to talk too. He should never be let out until he tells everything he did.

...and I'll tellya sumpin' else: if Pollard took no money, I would feel differently. This sumb*tch did it for the gelt, not the ideology. Ef him--and his whinin' wifey.

I think it is cruel to give Pollard supporters false hopes by deluding them into thinking that there is even one teency-weency breath of a possibility that Pollard will ever leave his cell in anything other than a coffin. Pollard will die in a U.S. prison, serving out every last day of his sentence, which is life in prison.

Can anyone rationally explain why Israeli politicians care so much about Mr. Pollard? Is it just posturing for domestic consumption, to score political points? But if so then why does the Israeli electorate care about Mr. Pollard?

"...others convicted of similar crimes have been sentenced to no more than 2-4 years."
This is a lie (shocked?). Pollard did extensive damage to American intelligence assets including helping get a few people murdered. I say let him rot till he's a grease spot on the floor of his cell.

It's to reassure current Mossad "assets" in the US.

If so, then all the more reason to ignore such proclamations, I would think.

If they cared about Pollard, they could have gotten him out 15 years ago - by extraditing his Mossad paymasters (who paid him to spy on their "ally" and who, in turn, sold his data to our enemies). Instead, they were rewarded with promotions, so let him rot.
