Davis said of the energy crisis: "This is like a war. This is worse than being in Vietnam Just curious. Did Davis serve in Vietnam?

Just for fun, Simon might try this for a campaign slogan: "Not insane."
LOL....or: "Not Davis."

"Worse than Vietnam?" "A full-out war against me?" Did somebody steal Capt. Queeg's strawberries?Wow.
I am floored that the San Francisco Chronicle published this.
Davis is McCrazier than McCrazy himself.

Then again, Davis might have had more allies if he had spent less time blaming the problem on Washington, courts, regulators and power companies. Everyone but himself. And there you have it. Classic liberal externalization of the problem, total lack of responsibility. If our party is the "Stupid" party...theirs is the "Whining" party.

Is this davis swine a baby boomer? His refrain sounds odiferously like that of baby boomer poster boy bill cliton: "IT'S AL ABOUT ME!"

"
I'll give Davis credit for this: When he finally dealt with the problem, Davis mitigated what could have been a devastating blow to California, and perhaps the national economy."
This will be "translated" by the Davis campaign into:
The Union-Tribune credits Governor Davis for saving the national economy by dealing with a problem which "could have been a devastating blow to California."

Asked about the "worse than Vietnam" statement, Davis press secretary Steven Maviglio responded, "The governor's office was in a bunker at the time. We were getting shot at by congressional committees, courts, consumer groups, the left, the right, the generators, the utilities. There were no allies in this fight." Good God...This reminds me of the lyrics of that old David Bowie tune that was the theme from Cat People: "Putting out fires with gasoline!"

I love the allusion to Capt. Queeg. That fits Davis perfectly. He is borderline loony, a control-freak, a corrupt governor who spends more time fundraising and shaking down businesses than PREVENTING crises from becoming crises.
He cost taxpayers BILLIONS of dollars over the next decade because of his inaction, delay and panic. Had he acted when the first sign of an energy problem existed, our CHILDREN would not be shouldering this debt!
Down with Davis! Go Simon!

"If I didn't panic, you wouldn't be able to put out your paper. I saved this friggin' paper. I kept the lights on in this state. Do you understand that? I kept the lights on." Megalomaniac????
If the 'guv' had signed the long term contracts in the fall of 2,000(instead of fundraising for himself and Algore), there wouldn't have been a 'panic'. He turned the 'lights' back on after he turned them off, at TWICE THE PRICE to Californians in the future(you know, the CHILDREN).

I was IN Vietnam, three tours, and this is nothing like it. Hunkered down in a bunker???? He must have been an admin officer. My electric bill went from $31.00 in November 2000 to $132.00 in February 2001. Tell me about how badly this A---Hole screwed the puppy on that one!!!! If Simon can't beat this guy without even campaigning he ought to be left in a room with a loaded pistol.

Looks like Hugh Hewitt's story about Gray Davis' rant is getting out there.
Hope Hewitt eventually gets a copy of this exchange to play on the air!
