After my first wife died and I was single I kept running into the same problem. All my married female friends when talking about their unmarried female friends would regularly say something like "some day Bonnie will meet a nice guy just like you." This comment would usually come right after Bonnie, Andrea, Susan etal. had just broken up with some jerk who treated her like s**t. Now none of those women ever noticed that I was there and available because I wasn't very exciting. What I was was intelligent, hardworking, self-employeed and a homeowner. I was a good cook, washed my own clothes, kept my house and yard in good repair and could fix your car. I am not hard on the eyes though a little overweight. I don't smoke or drink and have never used drugs. But none of this mattered because I was boring, which I came to understand meant that I wouldn't cheat on them or slap them around or come home drunk at 3 in the morning. Anyway after 8 years I finally met a woman who wasn't into the bar scene, enjoyed gardening, fly-fishing, throwing fun parties and sharing our semi-gourmet kitchen. We have been married 5 years this summer and I couldn't be happier. Do I wish that some of those other women had taken the time to give me a chance? At the time I wanted nothing more. I enjoyed be married and hoped that someone else out there felt the same way. Finally after I gave up on my group of friends, which included about 5 unmarried, available women, I found my wife. So my perception is that many women are more attracted to the gold chain, wild living, Clintoniod type than to the decent, dependable, somewhat bland by there standards type of guy.

I know this is rather long response, but this subject really pulls my chain.

Congratulations on your happy marriage. Be very glad those previous girls didn't give you a chance. Your life would be hell now. How does that song go....."Thank God for unanswered prayers"?
