This sucks, but it is better than losing the latin vote by a 10 to 1 margin like we do with the blacks.
The GOP will lose hispanics 10 to 1 anyway -- along with enough of their base to ensure democratic presidents from now till there's nothing left of the US but rubble.

You're right ---Bush is apt to lose a lot of Hispanic votes by doing this ----Hispanics along the border are suffering severely by double digit unemployment and dropping wages. Illegal immigration is not a popular issue, most highly resent the extremely high taxes and dropping life style. The border regions are experiencing a crime wave in the past few years that was non-existent 15 years ago. We never had drive-by shootings here but after the riff raff came in in the late 80s, things have declined.
