"(The Red Cross, which has never accepted a dime from the U.S. government (and to this day relies totally on voluntary contributions)..."

Voluntary contributions my Aunt Fanny! Has anyone ever received a blood transfusion? And was it FREE? Did the ARC donate the blood to the person who needed the transfusion, the way the blood donor donated to the ARC?

The last I heard, the cost of a pint of blood for a transfusion from ARC was in the hundreds of dollars. I could be mistaken--anyone who can, please correct me. And DON'T try to tell me the cost is for the testing.

I think I saw $400 a pint on one thread, but I don't know for sure.
