Just because we've supported the President on everything else on his agenda doesn't mean we have to support him where he's wrong. And he's definitely wrong in pushing for an amnesty for illegals. As for the politics of it --- he loses more votes from the base than he'd gain from newly naturalized Latinos, most of them who'd never vote for him any way. And if those who ARE citizens aren't its cause they don't like the GOP's pandering to illegals any more than the rest of Americans do. A little news flash for the President and his political guru Karl Rove: they backed Dick Riordan here in California and Riordan ran on a platform of more government services for illegal aliens. He lost by a thumping double digit margin. Its about time the White House wake up!

But everything he does from here on out will be clouded by what he's doing with the illegal immigration issue. Even if his intentions are well meaning, he's losing a great deal of respect. People don't want this, the reasons are obvious. How can you expect every American citizen to respect laws they make in Washington when they reward lawbreakers everytime they turn around? They are making a mockery of the rule of law. Nothing Bush says will be taken seriously, even when he's right.
