The disconnect between Congress and the American people we're seeing today is exactly why the Founders wanted a citizen legislature, so those elected to it would have lived among their neighbors and understood their problems. Instead what we have today in Congress are lobbyists for big corporations. We the people have got to put the heat on these losers big-time.

If I had Bill Gates' money, I would blast the airwaves with a political commercial right before the election in 2004 with a split-screen: on one side, Gallup poll results showing the American people's overwhelming negative opinion on granting illegal aliens any sort of legal status....on the other side, President Bush signing the bill into law.

It was not until I realized this state is being colonized from the south that I truly understood the importance of having legislators that could understand in concrete terms what their voters' perspective is. And the next natural observation is the elected officials in DC don't have a clue, don't want a clue, and if they begin to smell a clue will run the other way.
