I was listening to Sean Hannity a couple of days ago, and his primary focus is on the Democrats and Tom Daschle. I thought, who cares! Our nation is about to commit national suicide, and this guy is wasting valuable airtime talking about insignificant things. I don't get it.

I agree. I can't even listen to Rush anymore. Its just the constant two beltway party tit for tat, Its an endless rant of telling everyone that the Democrats are selling us out faster than the Republicans so we should all vote for his club. Ah, but you do get it. You've actually answered the question: the purpose of people like Rush and Hannity is to waste our time and to keep us from discussing the important issues. They're the media wing of the GOP establishment, which effectively means the neo-cons and their allies. Their purpose is to keep those of the sheeple of a conservative persuasion on the straight and narrow - that is to say, on the "conservative"/GOP plantation. That's what they're paid to do.
