OU To Prof: Get Rid Of Rifle
Gun Belonged To Great-Grandfather
ATHENS, Ohio -- An Ohio University journalism professor is riled over being forced to remove his great-grandfather's rifle
The rifle has been mounted on the wall of Patrick Washburn's office for 15 years.
Washburn, 60, said that neither he nor the 1878 Springfield rifle poses a threat to anyone. He also said that he does not know what kind of shell the gun needs.
OU officials said that the school's workplace violence policy forbids the display.
Kathy Krendl of OU's College of Communications said that someone complained about Washburn's rifle in January.
After consulting with OU's legal affairs office, Krendl turned the matter over to campus police, who told Washburn to remove it.
Washburn complied, but he barraged university officials with letters, e-mails and public-records requests in an effort to find out who lodged the complaint, all to no avail.

Stupidity and hypocracy knows no bounds by friends.
"workplace violence"
Hmm...
So a model on his desk, of this:
is taboo?!

What happened in Reply 9, above, is, that geocities.com chopped the link!
I believe it was a 45/70. Still available. However, this rifle is most likely a family heirloom and historical artifact.
Personally, I would have it at home, but, the fact that he is forced to remove it for the aforementioned reasons is ludicrous.
IMHO, it seems now that our universities are breeding PC socialist and radical Marxist.
Sheesh!
