Secular man doesn't understand or accept demon possession so he has to call it by something "logical" - something his mind can accept like some bizarre mental aberration.
If the Devil made her do it, then why is she being held responsible for her crime? Obviously, she was under the influence of supernatural forces, over which she had no control, so she shouldn't be held responsible.
