CAUSE OF GIRL'S DEATH COULD REMAIN MYSTERY
Police say they may never know how Danielle van Dam died, or when. The seven-year-old girl disappeared from her San Diego home February first. Authorities are now confirming that a child's body found by volunteer searchers Wednesday is that of the missing child. The district attorney says an autopsy performed confirmed her identity yesterday. The identification was made through dental records because of the condition of the body. Medical examiners are trying to determine the cause of death, but Police Chief Dave Bejerano says it's possible that we'll never know how, or when she was killed. A neighbor has been charged with kidnapping and murdering her. Authorities say they found the girl's blood on his clothing and in his motor home. He has pleaded innocent.

When I watched AMW last night I thought Damon said he noticed the sliding glass door open when he got up at 1:30. He said he assumed that someone had opened it to smoke or something. I don't know, I'd have to watch it again. Now, if the group was just sitting around eating pizza for an hour(beginning at 2-2:30 BTW), don't you think Brenda or Damon would have noticed if someone was smoking or got up and started opening doors? Where were they? They make it sound like they were all in the same room. The more they speak the more likely it becomes that they will hang themselves eventually, IF LE is paying attention.

That is a interesting point though. The reports stated that Westerfield loaded his RV with provisions for the trip, got in it and rolled about 9:30 AM. It is ASSUMED that the RV was parked outside his residence. I have not see a report that states that fact.
Perhaps someone has seen one?

Ok you firmly believe it was a frame up. I'm sure Westerfields attorneys would love you.

It takes its toll. Burnout is very high.

The point that makes me suspicious of Brenda's story is that she tried to distance herself from him too much.
She made it look too casual. If there was nothing to hide she should have just told everything about seeing him days before and basically agreeing to meet him on Friday night at Dad's.
If I have it straight, the whole story took a while to be completely told. Why? If it was all so innocent, she should have been totally comfortable with revealing it all. She should have especially been forthright with anything that she thought would aid in finding her daughter.

Maybe if it had been a real trial and not a media sideshow, that would have helped.

"the more likely it becomes that they will hang themselves"
Possibly about as likely as providing backup for the statement that "All pedophiles have been molested it's a psychiatric fact."

Well, this is what i have..after the fact. and BEFORE the impounding. I just ''assumed'' that he parked it at the business anyway. (If he has a homeowners association, he probably has been told to not part the rv there longer than a certain period of time).
5. February 6, 2002 Dozens of officers searched Westerfield's home, which is two doors from where San Diego police say Danielle van Dam was abducted after her father put her to bed Friday night. Investigators carted away 13 boxes of property, and took a sport utility vehicle from Westerfield's home and a motor home from his Poway business.

How true. When my daugher was younger she was determined to wear basketball t-shirts and long shorts all the time and the occasional dress and played basketball with the boys. This did not make her Dennis Rodman!!

Wait a minute !!!!!!! I thought the group didn't arrive until two-ish. Damon specifically stated that he thought someone may have opened it to dump ashes. He spoke as if he was referring to the pizza-munchers.
How could that be? He saw the open door at 1:30 am before anyone had come back from the bar.

Was it the red that clued you in? Just kidding!

Yah! It makes sense that the RV would have been at the residence that night. We do need to get this nailed down though. It would change a few theories if for some unknown reason, it was not.

I missed that part. When did he say that? In an interview with Paula Zahn. I have the transcript around here somewhere ...

Yeah that was one giveaway. Seems very gleeful about the whole thing.

Well it certainly didn't come out in the press in one whole piece, but that doesn't mean the SDPD wasn't well aware of it all.
The problem with arm chair detecting is that we can only speculate on the 1% that is released to the press.
One should carefully examine the attitude of LE toward the parents. In this case it has been what I would call tender and considerate as toward a victimized family. Not at like I remember the relationship between LE and the Ramseys.
