I was giving a serious answer. I'm only talking about biology here. One needs to see precursors (either directly or by inference) and one needs a mechanism to get from one type of entity to another. The same thing works in language. We have direct examples in the Latin going to French (and Spanish) and indirect in the construction of proto-Indo-European.
