As far as I can tell, it's just another type of fuel air bomb that was designed to be better on caves. Iwo Jima was a nightmare because of the caves, and the US Navy hammered it with 16inch guns for days. Yet the Japs came out and slaughtered our guys.
I think that is what is behind some of todays concepts.
