--just can't really see any successful pipeline down through afghanistan. It can be attempted and probably built, but I would guess it would get blown up on a regular basis.

So, why would they still keep trying? Second guess, great way to still make money by skimming profits from investors during the construction phases, then 'reluctantly" abandon the project after it's implication proves futile and not profitable. Can see it now "unipipelineco, a joint consortium of companies from the countries of xxx, has declared bankruptcy due to continuuing instability in the nation of afghanistan and etc yada yada. At one time their stock was trading at 156 and is now down to 3.5". some such like that. Gee, we're so sorry that we didn't succeed-giggle-and all this money - more giggles- has been "lost" and we can't find it. We're so sorry

Third guess, eventually that gas will go directly into china, the golden boy nation of these people, and where the market will be. These fatcats see china as the planets next superpower, and want "in" at the ground floor level and to make sure they are appreciated by the chinese.
