The paper argues that the article of the above-mentioned magazine has been published within the framework of the efforts exerted by the European Union to create "a Turkey where the power of money will rule and everything will be sold and bought like a merchandise".

The key word is "everything", meaning ideals, ethnic pride, loyalty, etc. That's the only way it makes sense to me.

I think it means for materalistic, rather than idealogical reasons. However,the best laid plans often go astray.

It would be too bad if the Turks were tied down with the Greeks, when there was a problem with Iraq.
