I post this for those who want the facts, I'm sure it will have no impact on the rest of you.

Some people are blowing this way out of proportion - Weigland, unfortunately, is one of them. This isn't going to make anyone but the anti-gunners look good. What is the point of all of this irrational chest beating? I'm telling you, it's going to hurt us, not help us.

A spokesperson for The Brady Campaign told Newsbytes today that the organization did not authorize the creation of the HCI online mall, nor has the lobbying group ever received any funds from the site.

Thanks for the info. It looks like HCI has to figure out who is using their "good name" to collect money from people entering the Dell website from this "Online Mall".

With that, I will take Dell at their word. Thanks for the thread.

Weigland is now looking stupid for refusing the puter and continuing the fray. He called Dell out, they investigated, apologized publicly - what more does he want?

Most affiliate programs are to stay alive financially - not to endorse or promote ideologies. JL

Now this is very curious indeed. HCI itself is, of course, now entitled "The Brady Campaign," but there's still a website out there calling itself HCI, who is generating money (presumably) with an online shopping mall, and not giving it to the Brady bunch...so where's the money going? And who are these people?

According to Hargett, Dell "has not taken a position on the issue of gun control.

Ah, so Dell has yet to decide if it supports the Constitution of the United States of America or not. That says all I need to know about Dell Computers.

NO SALE...dude!

Assuming that the information in Dell's denial is valid, then why is the link still up on the HCI website, as of 5 minutes ago? Shouldn't have it been pulled under threat of legal sanction by now?

Dell spokesperson Cathie Hargett said the computer company was not aware of the HCI online mall, but she confirmed that the company participates in a number of online affiliate programs "on both sides of issues."

OK, so where do I find an online affiliate program in which Dell participates with the pro-Second Amendment side?

This isn't a misdirected humor post is it?

Dell is really mishandling this. I'm sure they released that statement, it sounds logical. But it's no where to be found on their website, even among their press releases. They have pages of comments in their customer service forum, but not a word from the company. I'll accept their statement's until I hear of a 2nd ammendment site not allowed to join their affiliate program. But as you can tell from these threads, Dell isn't convincing many people.

I don't do business with anti-Second Amendment bigots, and that includes Bill Gates, who's been a very generous contributor to both Planned Parenthood and Handgun Control, Inc.
