Interesting. So a man whose child is senselessly murdered by his wife bears responsibility for those deaths because he is a "nutcase" fundamentalist Christian.
But any reasonable consideration that the sick, twisted, perverse lifestyle of the van Dams might mean they may have played a role in their daughter's death--that's just outrageous!
Did I get that right?

Think about it. A man's relationship with his wife is sufficiently intimate that he should be familiar with her emotional problems and know what she is capable of. And since Christian marriage is allegedly superior, since Christ is a partner in the marriage, the responsibility is even greater.
Yates was living with this woman (the perp). Praying with her. She was with the kids nearly all of the time. And the Van Dams are criticized because they brought Westerfield into the house once, and he may have danced with the wife in a bar on the night in question.
Don't stick words in my mouth! I never condemned anyone for being a Christian! I also didn't say Mr. Yates played a role in the death of his children.
I do think it is quite strange the ease with which he forgave his wife and ran to her defense after she killed his five children. There is something not right with his behavior, and I can't put it into words, but I know I'm not alone in seeing it. I don't know what the Yates were like in private, but in public Mr. Yates looks to me as if he has many of the same problems as his wife.

I can only comment on what I have seen of the van Dams in public. I don't know what goes on to the van Dam's home and neither do you. There are rumors, but with the tabloid aspects this case has taken on, many of those rumors are likely B.S.
That said, however, don't get me mixed up with the professional apologists. If Danielle's parents - by some unlikely stretch - turn out to have played a role in this, damn them.
But I don't see it happening.
