It seems you are back to your original point. You finally circled back to the premise that "all adults working with children can never be child molesters". Not even you would abide by that premise before but we again return to it. Apparently you have some unfinished business with it.

I assume my children interact with child molesters everday but I have no idea who they are. They can be their scout leaders, their pastor, the babysitter, teacher, relative.

In fact, I later found that one of my childrens scout leaders regularly had sex with one of his daughters. It happens. Stick your head in the sand if you want.

But, if you are selling the notion that no scout leader, pastor, babysitter, teacher or relative is capable of abusing your child I am not buying.

In fact, the chances are greater than the average population that people who have contact with my child are going to be a child molester. Why ? Common sense again. If you were a child molester where would you tend to work ? With children, of course.

Neighbors bring food, but no one has an appetite. Relatives visit but often don't want to talk.

Living with the disappearance of their 7-year-old daughter is taking its toll on Brenda and Damon van Dam, friends say. After six days, the van Dams remain hopeful, but at the same time they are struggling with the realization they may never see Danielle again.

There are times "I just scream and cry into my pillow," Brenda van Dam said in an interview on CNN's "Larry King Live" last night.

"You guys aren't seeing the bad side of this," she told a news conference outside her Sabre Springs home earlier in the day. "We are pleading with the public to remember that while there may be progress, Danielle is still not home with her family. Please, please continue to get the word out nationwide."

Police believe Danielle was abducted after her father put her to bed about 10:30 p.m. Friday. Her canopy bed was found empty the next morning. Since then, the blond child always pictured with a choker around her neck has become the object of a search that has attracted nationwide interest and concern.

Damon van Dam yesterday recalled his last night with his daughter.

"She liked to read to her brother before she went to bed. She read to him, and she was tucked in and I gave her a good-night kiss," he said, his voice choking with emotion.

Danielle's 5-and 10-year-old brothers are "holding up as best they can," said Susan Wintersteen, a family spokesman, who added the boys are undergoing counseling.

For the first time, the van Dams commented on Westerfield. They said Westerfield is an acquaintance. "We didn't know him very well," Damon van Dam said. "Just to wave and say hello."

Westerfield had earlier told the Union-Tribune that he encountered Brenda van Dam and two of her girlfriends at a popular Poway bar and restaurant Friday night. He said he danced with Brenda van Dam and had a few drinks before leaving alone before midnight.

On Friday night, Brenda van Dam left home about 8:15 or 8:30 to go out with two single girlfriends as a send-off for one of the women, who was moving out of town, she said. Damon van Dam stayed home, playing video games with his sons while Danielle read.

Brenda van Dam said she ran into Westerfield at Dad's, the Poway restaurant and bar, and that he asked her to introduce him to one of her friends. She agreed, but they did not talk long. She said she danced and played pool during the evening at Dad's, but did not dance with Westerfield, as he told The San Diego Union-Tribune. When Brenda van Dam and her friends left the bar, Westerfield was gone, she said. She and her two girlfriends ran into two other friends that night, and they all headed to the van Dams' home.
