80,000 Freepers and Growing - Freepathon
3-1-02 | Topaz

Posted on 03/01/2002 4:59:36 AM PST by Topaz

When Jim Robinson started Free Republic in September, 1996 to expose the corruption in government and particularly the Clinton Whitehouse, he was alone. Now six years later, Free Republic has 80,000 registered members and who knows how many visit this site often, just to keep up on the latest conservative thinking.

Folks, you all know where this is going, Free Republic is a user supported website and it is time to support it. Four times a year we have this freepathon to donate a few dollars to pay for the bandwidth and expenses necessary to keep Free Republic online, and we do so with gratitude and cheer because of what is offered and accomplished by the existence of Free Republic.

Free Republic does not charge a membership fee or get supported by a government grant. No, people from across the World make donations large and small because they see the value of Free Republic. So if you're one that appreciates this site and want to see it continue, please send in a few dollars to help keep it alive.

Morning Mom, contributing patriots, and loser moochers.

Is there a brilliant new plan for the day, or just more bombing, abusing the cheapskates, and praying for Bob Hope or Rush Limbaugh to open their fat wallets?

Morning, and a little election humor:

Once upon a time, long, long ago there was a Presidential election that was too close to call. Neither the Republican presidential candidate nor the Democratic presidential candidate had enough votes to win the election.

Therefore, it was decided that there should be an ice-fishing contest between the two candidates to determine the final winner.

There was much talk about ballot recounting, court challenges, etc., but a weeklong ice fishing competition seemed the (manly) way to settle things. The candidate that catches the most fish at the end of the week wins.

After a lot of back and forth discussion, it was decided that the contest would take place on a remote and cold lake in Wisconsin. There were to be no observers present, and both men were to be sent out separately on this remote lake and return daily with their catch for counting and verification.

At the end of the first day, George W. returns to the starting line and he has 10 fish. Soon, Al Gore returns and has zero fish.

Well, everyone assumes he is just having another bad hair day or something and hopefully, he will catch up the next day.

At the end of the 2nd day George W. comes in with 20 fish and Al Gore returns and has zero fish.

That evening, Bill Clinton gets together secretly with Al and says, Al, I think George W. is a low-life cheatin' son-of-a-gun. I want you to go out tomorrow and don't even bother with fishing. Just spy on him and see if he is cheating in any way.

The next night (after George W. comes back with 50 fish), Bill Clinton says to Al, "Well, what about it, is George W. cheatin'?"

"He sure is, Bill, he's cutting holes in the ice."

Of course the cold hard reality is without the Freepers raising hell and supporting GW as the demonicRats tried to steal the election with their post election fraud, Goron, would be our president today.

That should scare the hell out of most lurkers and Freeploaders. Please contribute to Free Republic to make sure what happened after the November election never happens again. If the DemonicRats do try to steal more elections, we will need a very strong and powerful Free Republic. Donate now and monthly to Free Republic, to protect your voting rights this year and in the future!

Your post is stupendous!

I especially liked your inclusion of a link to Grampa Dave's 5,000 Freepers who care are needed now! thread.

That thread is a classic and should go down in Free Republic's history as a milestone.

We are spoiled. The last fundraiser went so fast we hardly had time to blink. If we keep going like we are, we should still be better than the others. I don't have any ideas right now, but something may come to me later.

If anyone has new ideas to attract more donations, let's run with it! Post them here and we can add input (if you're brave!) Should we start a new thread?
