The death of Bugs Bunny's father brings home how much the laughter has gone out of American life. As soon as you step outside the nation's last unmonitored behavior zone--the short distance between your eyes and the home television--you've gotta watch where, when, at what and at whom you laugh. How'd that happen?

Newspapers once carried the universal satire and humor of Art Buchwald and Russell Baker; most of what's supposed to be funny in print today rises from bile.

Except for Dave Barry.

Some of the fondest memories of my childhood, was watchin' the Road Runner & Wile E. with my father. He was (and is, still) a Trucker and was out more days than in....

I knew that this nation was in trouble when the ABC Network began to chop up those cartoons because of the (supposed) violence. If the parents of the more recent generations weren't able to teach their collective brats what was 'real' and what 'was not real' - then they should have to deal with the spawn that they produced.... Not pawn them off on the society that they believed was supposed to take of them (and their children).

...but....that's just my opinion......
