No!
I believe that the "science" of evolution should be taught with a section of the curriculum devoted to the religious versions of the origin of man.(when you get to that part)
This teaches the science and balances it with the religous doctrine.

Come to the door naked. It works for Jehovah's Witnesses. If that works for you I won't knock it.
I open the door, fully dressed, including sidearm, then my hundred pound dog, stops barking, and starts trying to push the screen door open, even the bravest evangilist forgets their lines.

Ok, EVERYTHING is a theory, so that means you can't accept ANYTHING as true. Right? I mean, Newton's physical laws were really just theories until replaced by Einstein's theories, which too will be replaced someday. By your logic, because nothing can ever be proven true (I don't even know what your standard of proof is), we can't believe ANYTHING. You have a bad idea of knowledge. Evolution is not some sort of atomic concept, which either exists or doesn't exist. It's a collection of ideas, some of which are contradictory, some of which are supported by the evidence, some which are not supported. So to make a blanket statement like 'evolutionary theory is wrong' doesn't make any sense. Evolution is a natural process, it happens every day in many aspects of the world. You can't deny that this is true, because it is self-evident to anyone who looks. Evolutionary theory simply applies some of these natural processes to history and says "this is probably how things came to be." And it makes certain predictions, which are testable. The physical evidence has proven to be very supportive of evolutionary theories.
I'm just wondering, what is your alternative view of the mechanics of creation? How did we get to be here? What testable predictions can you make about the past?

"The posters change; but the arguments remain constant"Good logic! The fact is, the argument will always be the same!

Then explain the point you were trying to make, I'd be very interested in hearing it.

I think the reason is duty, and responsibility to pass the word along. Witnessing is a important part of religion. It helps both parties sometimes but it always helps the witness.
BTW, I am not a religious man.(no church for me) I do believe in God. (or a higher power)
I have found this to be comfortable to me. I have been critisized by religious folk,(especially baptists) for being that way and I just ignore them.

Where in the world do you live. I have never had an athiest knock on my door and no one else has ever mentioned it either.

Within twenty years "Intelligent design theories" will be taught along side of "evolutionary theories" as a matter of a complete education That could be true. But first ID must have a working theory that can make testable predictions. It doesn't. If evolution is a theory (which it is and it isn't), then ID is a conjecture. The main ID workhorses spend 95% of their time writing anti-evolutionary screeds for the Discovery Institute or they appear on Dr. James Dobson's show (like Phil Johnson did last week), or they spend time talking to church groups, or they spend time talking to Congress. But never do you hear about the next great Nature paper that will be released about the first accurate measurements of Complex Specified Information, or any new announcements of any new progresses in ID theory. Is that because the main brains of the think tank are too busy influencing public opinion when they should be trying to make ID an actual scientific theory? Why is ISCID offering $100 to the best ideas posted to their site? It can't be because scientists are flocking to their banner, right?
ID has a lot of work ahead of it, if it is to be determined that it can be a viable theory. But that work only can be done when there are people there to work on it. All of those people are too busy doing other things, it appears. Maybe they should reexamine their priorities, eh?

. I have never had an athiest knock on my door and no one else has ever mentioned it either.Neither have I. Only in government schools, liberal universities, on tv from Friends to Discovery channel, most magazines, and most mainline newspapers. Other than that it hardly preached at all.

Evolution has facts that back up the theory, making it the MOST likely explanation of how we got here. Sloppy writing or a freudian slip?
Evolution does not own the facts they belong to science. Science has facts that may be interpreted to suit evolutionary theory. They might also be interpreted to suit creation theory or the "Maritians did it" theory. Evolutionists ARE arogant in this area

You guys are a scream, an absolute scream, I laugh every time I see you post, especially F. Christian, because all he does is attack, no real back up for what he says, just an attack to descredit whomever disagrees with him. ROFLMAO!!!I don't see how you differ from the one you accuse. Here's the evidence for Evolution you provide:
Evolution has facts that back up the theory, making it the MOST likely explanation of how we got here. The fossil records etc,...
That's all you offer? It's not a very convincing and compelling argument. Sorry

Like I am going to write up a 100 page response, laying out the Theory of evolution? Give me a break. I KNOW what creationism is, and the fact is that it is FAITH based. The Theory of evolution is based on scientifc facts and conjecture that fits together into a somewhat coherent whole, no FAITH needed to look at it critically and saying, "That's logical" and fits together rather well.
So cry me a river, I don't give specifics, but I don't attack creationists personally, calling them fools and idiots. Although that is exactly how I feel. I have no use for Faith, give me facts, those actually have some use.

Where in the world do you live. I have never had an athiest knock on my door and no one else has ever mentioned it either.I've often wondered what kind of reception an evangelical Objectivist would get door-to-door. Probably lots of people would stop to listen, just because it'd be sooo... unusual.

Well, at least we don't have the "light gets here at the same time from all the stars" or that "God keeps spinning up the world (like plates on a stick)" posts like the other thread! :)

The theory of gravity is a theory (and always will remain one). No matter how much evidence is accumulated, a theory in science will never stop being a theory. Or don't you believe in gravity also?
