I’m tired of these atheists’ knocking on my door holding the Book of Darwin

The THEORY of evolution. Hey, Nice THEORY! No, really – a beautiful story about how man might have been created. The Darwin bible though has been interpreted by many to ‘soot’ their own beliefs. They preach this stuff as it were fact and leave out the most important word of any THEORY - the word ‘IF’.

I mean you never hear them say, “IF’ the Evolution of life on earth proceeded in two stages: chemical and biological. Life on earth must have developed from inorganic materials- what else was there for it to come from? The first stage in the development of life, therefore, was the production of a reproducing cell from materials at hand on the early earth. This process is called chemical evolution.... Once a living, reproducing system was present, the process of natural selection took over to produce the wide variety of life that exists today. This from the gospel of evolution.

They state this mumbo jumbo as if it were fact. They always leave out ‘IF’. I mean, it’s a darn THEORY isn’t it? Heck, they even ridicule those who believe otherwise. They hide behind this so called faith in Darwin. Although Darwin was just a prophet of ‘their’ science.

Hey, don’t get me wrong, I appreciate science. I even think that evolution is an interesting THEORY – but why should we preach about Darwin in our schools. I mean evolution is thoroughly compatible with religion-when the object of worship is evolution; and we must keep a separation between religion and state. It doesn’t say that in the Constitution, but hey, it sounds like a darn good idea!

Don’t get me wrong, some evolutionists are starting to understand Intelligent Design. But there is still a majority that thinks evolution has somehow disproved the existence of God. Wow, even their prophets Darwin and Nietzsche understood the dangers that posed.

I am an American and believe that everyone should worship as they chose, but keep your Darwin propaganda out of my child’s school and my country’s laws. It's like some kind of ACLU / 700 club.

What mix. It's all mix, thats what I would think to be a good education. In philosophy class I studied Christianity, Judiesm, Islam, Buddism, Taoism, etc, along with Kant, DsCarte(sp?), Pacsal, etc. In science I studied lots of theorys, math, biology, geology, ect. Many have been proven, disproven, or modified in the 20 years since I was in school. I studied "social studies", learned about communism, socialism, facsism, capitolism, etc. I never remember my teachers teaching or preaching this one is "good" or this one is "bad".

Interesting...and you obviously could think for yourself and decide what you wished to believe. Now, if only the extremists on both sides of the crevo debate could leave everyone else alone to make up their own minds, we might actually make some progress instead of dissolving into rancor.

The point is the elimination of God.

Would you please explain then how some people who believe deeply in a Creator also believe that the Theory of Evolution has validity? These individuals evidently have no trouble reconciling their faith with observations of the natural world.

I studied both science and philosophy, I still have God.

Thank you! Many of my colleagues do as well. In fact, as a freshman in college I was fortunate enough to have a Bible-believing professor teach earth history...including (gasp!) Evolution.

Consider someone who believes that Venus is smaller than Mercury-not because he has evidence, but because he read it in a comic book and always believes whatever he reads in comic books

From what I have read about RadioAstronomer's background, he has many years of schooling behind him (you don't do what he does without it) and probably has his PhD. Where has RadioAstronomer ever stated Venus is smaller than Mercury? As an astronomer he would know that was not true. Do you actually believe that college is taught using comic books? Have you ever been to college yourself?

I indeed looked at the link. I don't see how it applies to RadioAstronomer.

You did not answer my questions. (Either of them).

a) Why do you have it in for Radioastronomer?

b) Did you ever go to college?

I don't know RA--it is nothing personal---it's about philosophy--ideology--lies/evolution vs TRUTH!

DNA Degrades over time.

Do you have a reference for this idea? In my lab, DNA is the most stable substance we work with.

You could throw sand into the air for a billion years and it would never form anything. The thought that we were randomly put together from green slime and divine intervention was not necessary to accomplish this task, is to me far more incomprehensible and impossible than believing that we are part of God's plan.

sheepherders, & later refined & interpreted by church/state bureaucrats,

Lively thread, isn't it?! Your side is losing. I suspect that some of the Bible students here could even find a biblical prediction to that effect. It's time for the third 19th century godfather of 20th century's atrocities (after Marx and Freud,) to retire to the proverbial trash heap of history. As for the sheepherders and bureaucrats, Homer and Aristotle were sheepherders themselves or something close to it, and Shakespeare didn't have an indoor toilet. Your side's heroes Darwin, and let's be honest, Freud and Marx, didn't even get cable television where all the truth is decided. I imagine your side would rather discuss science and religion with 20th century university graduates such as O.J. Simpson and Monica Lewinski than with some dirty 5th (or whatever) century sheepherders. All this to point out the cheap shots of your argument, which I for the life of me aren't able to comprehend. And bureaucrats too? What else, now Dracula? Jeez! Cheers, anyway!

but keep your Darwin propaganda out of my child’s school and my country’s laws.

And what do you propose to replace the teaching of evolution in science class? How can a kid grow up and understand modern biology without the linchpin of evolution that binds all of it together.
