Hijacker shot passenger
on Flight 11: FAA memo

'One bullet fired,' killing 9B occupant, but agency claims report was in error

WASHINGTON - An internal Federal Aviation Administration memo summarizing the Sept. 11 hijackings says a passenger aboard American Airlines Flight 11 was shot to death by a single bullet, WorldNetDaily has learned.

The FAA claims the memo, time-stamped Sept. 11 at 5:30 p.m., was written in error.

"It was a first draft," said FAA spokeswoman Laura Brown in a phone interview today. "There was no gun."

She said a final draft of the executive summary, received by FAA Administrator Jane Garvey, does not include the account of a gun being fired aboard the plane.

Brown refused to release the final draft, however, arguing it is "protected information."

WorldNetDaily has obtained a copy of the first draft of the memo, which can be viewed here.

Here is the key excerpt, which was very specific:

"The American Airlines FAA Principal Security Inspector (PSI) was notified by Suzanne Clark of American Airlines Corporate Headquarters, that an on board flight attendant contacted American Airlines Operations Center and informed that a passenger located in seat 10B shot and killed a passenger in seat 9B at 9:20 a.m.

"The passenger killed was Daniel Lewin, shot by passenger Satam Al Suqami. One bullet was reported to have been fired."

Re #18: You are right. That could be a problem for a airline.

More on Flight 11:

NJ man may be linked to terrorists

I don't know if somebody has the ability to archive this kind of thing, or would want to.

It sounds like some of the wild speculation that occured on 9/11. Remember the stories of truck bombs going off near the Treasury Building, up to five other hijacked planes being tracked, etc.?

The report seems too specific to have been idle speculation ... specific names and seat numbers and on-board source (stewardess). If they did manage to get a gun aboard Flight 11, it means security was even worse than previously reported.

I could not conceive how four to six hijackers could control an airplane with pocketknives. Sounds like someone at the FAA felt the same way.

The FAA person would have had to be an out and out liar to have embellished his account with fake specific details (seat numbers, names, and crew member source).

That would explain the sudden attention the contractors recieved from the FBI and the arrest of 20.

The Fbi was all over the Logan contractors shortly after the incident. This indicates they knew a gun was smuggled aboard, and most likely by ground crew.

No, it was the other way around. Satami killed Lewin.

What this indicates is just HOW BAD airline security really was...or, IS?

see my 37.....I think this all makes sense now. I wondered what tipped them to check the contractors.

I dunno. There sure is a lot of specific information in the original account, including the seat numbers and names of the two men involved.

Sorry, I'm one of the LEAST "tin-foil hat" types on FR, but I smell a coverup. AA, I'm sure, did NOT want it to get out that a passenger had smuggled a gun onboard.
