You're right--they don't know. And the "Eve" thing is a construct. The evidence that the EARLY line that eventually became "us" is of African origin is absolutely solid; where the last half million or so years of humanity came from and where the actual "humanization" occured is not known. The African part of this IS PC-driven (IMO--but certainly not out of the question. It COULD be Africa.
