BERLIN (AP) - Iran, denounced by President Bush as part of an "axis of evil," urged U.S. allies Wednesday to lobby the American administration against unilateral military action in the war on terrorism.
No world power should simply "declare someone as a terrorist and use its military muscle against them," Iranian Foreign Minister Kamal Kharrazi said before talks with his German counterpart, Joschka Fischer.
"The friends of the United States have to advise them that, instead of unilateralism, they should stick to multilateralism," Kharrazi told reporters. He spoke during a two-day visit to Berlin to discuss Afghanistan and the Middle East with German officials.
Fischer made no comment. Germany has strongly backed the United States in the war in Afghanistan, but Fischer is among a number of European officials who have cautioned the Bush administration against expecting automatic support for military action elsewhere.
In his State of the Union address last month, Bush labeled Iran, Iraq and North Korea part of an "axis of evil" that supports terrorism and seeks to develop weapons of mass destruction, warning them to stop or face consequences.
Speculation about the next major step in the U.S. campaign has focused on Iraq, but Iran was also angered.
On Tuesday, Iran's legislature approved a budget bill containing unspecified spending to counter U.S. policy, state-run Tehran radio said. The allocation will be used to "discover and thwart U.S. plots and its acts of interference in Iran's internal affairs and also file suits with international bodies against the United States, legislator Hassan Ramezanianpour said.
Some U.S. allies criticized Bush for denouncing Iran, saying he alienated politicians and citizens who are pressing the ruling hard-line clergy to expand democracy.
Iran's ties with Germany and other European countries are friendlier than with the United States.
On Tuesday, Kharrazi met German parliament president Wolfgang Thierse and said they agreed "that it's only in an international effort that terrorism can be dealt with."
He also repeated Iran's rejection of U.S. allegations that it was destabilizing neighboring Afghanistan as a new post-Taliban political order takes shape under Western-backed interim leader Hamid Karzai, who completed a visit to Iran on Tuesday.
And this from a country which declared Israel as terrorists and supports terorists to kill off all Jews!

I have some advice for Mr. Kharrazi: "The friends of Iran advise them that, instead of terrorism, they should stick to their own business!"
No world power should simply "declare someone as a terrorist and use its military muscle against them," Iranian Foreign Minister Kamal Kharrazi said
Who said anything about military muscle? According to some reports Iran's government is barely hanging on -- the little guys are too busy watching Bay Watch reruns on satellite TV to join the Revolutionary Guard.....
Well, you're right. We have no friends in the middle-east, which in turn makes me wonder if we should be involved in the area at all.
But I'm not from Iran. :)
What about unilaterally calling the USA the "Great Satan" and for every day for the last 20 years pumping the media and mosques to state that America is evil?
"The friends of the United States have to advise them that, instead of unilateralism, they should stick to multilateralism," Kharrazi told reporters. He spoke during a two-day visit to Berlin to discuss Afghanistan and the Middle East with German officials.
The theocrats in Iran are scared. Even adopting the Eurocrat elite verbiage of "unilateralism" etc. to stop the pressure.
Ichabod Slip: "Alright. Let's fight."
Shemp: "Well, we're not in my country."
