Buy IBM. True-blue, All-American outfit. Great machines to boot.

Some responders said that it might be a Dell employee acting on his own, with his/her/its own agenda. This would not surprise me. Consider where Dell is headquartered, near Austin Texas. Hostile in-your-face liberal community. You dare not park a vehicle near University of Texas with a bumper sticker that would offend some of the DemoStalinists there, lest some green/orange/purple haired anorexic pale wymyns studies "student" would key the paint.

Letter sent:
I read recently of your stopping a sale of a Dell computer to a person who made the "Dell" mistake of stating that he wanted his notebook to be registered under, "Weigand Combat Handguns Inc.
Apparently, you wouldn't sell him one, because of the name.
I own a Dell Dimension computer, and am about to get a new one. I also recommend which brand of computer to buy, for and upstart medical device manufacturing company in Florida. So far, we have bought only Dells. That just ended, personally, and professionally.
If this is true, what you have done, rest assured I will do whatever I can to prevent Dell computers from being bought, professionally. Personally, rest assured.
If some idiot in marketing decided this, fire him/her. If it is a core philosophy, I suggest you examine the fate of Smith and Wesson.

What ever you do - make sure the NRA knows about this. They love this stuff. They can put the word out.

Bookmarked and BUMPED! Someone should send an email to O'Reilly about this if it turns out to be true (Company policy).

Freeped! --MM

No offense, but I don't believe this. Something doesn't smell right about this article. Does anyone know this guy, looked up his business, checked his bonafides--has anyone emailed him and spoke with him about this?
To: RJL
They are probably afraid he will do some lethal combat on the Dell Dude Punk.
To: RJL
You know, even if they reverse the policy, the company is persona non grata - as far as I'm concerned. Screw the bastards and their investors.

Jack Weigand may be luckier than he thinks. My daughter's company bought her a brand new Dell laptop......over $2,000. Needed the entire guts replaced. Didn't work from Day 1. Lost time and money!

Personally, I prefer to go to a smaller outfit -- you can generally get more options. The catch is that you'll need to check them with an outfit like resellerratings.com.
The outfit I eventually went with (CompuCheap) did a great job (a month and a half with no cause for complaint). As for politics... their "Links" page includes the NRA, the Federalist Papers, and "Slap Hillary" (but AFAIK they'll sell you a computer even if you're a liberal ;-) ).

I am not a gun owner, however, I think your story is sad. It is a sad example of ignorance. I will freep them for you. Keep up the good work.

I thought I would get a faster response by writing to Dell Customer Support and including my account number. Apparently not. Just got the following email:
Thank you for contacting Dell Customer Care. You will need to contact our Sales Department for that information.
They can be reached at 1-800-915-3355 or you can visit them online
at www.dellcustomercare.com.

Even more happy now that I bought a Gateway.

I just e-mailed them and explained that though I am presently a Dell machine owner (it's 4 years old and badly in need of replacement) my days of doing business with them are over. I appended to my message the thought that perhaps Mr. Dell ( a Jew) would prefer a world where one day dissenting Americans could be rounded up and placed in Ghettos where they could await later shipment off to gas chambers with no resistance. I further explained to them the reason and import of the Second Ammendment.
