Sorry, I don't feel very beat. Yes, there were some double agents and subversives. Still are! But the followers of this new way of living were just as American as anyone. They were largely laborers being led by phony intellectuals who thought that man should serve man and not himself.
Labor unions provided the fodder for the pseudo intellectuals and hollywood helped them bang the commie drum. It was all for the good of society and the progressive man. Funny thing! They don't call it communism anymore.
