My choice is the historical lie of the "McCarthy Era." It is largely a myth and what's more, McCarthy- though he himself was a buffon- his premise was correct- our government was indeed infested with Communists loyal to Stalin. Liberals talk as if McCarthy was the American equal of Stalin- a disgusting comparison and an immoral one. All the liberal "heroes" of that era have been exposed as spies- the Rosenburgs- guilty. Alger Hiss- guilty. IF STONE- most likely a spy who accepted money from the KGB. Oppenheimer- strong evidence of his guilt. MInd you- most of these cases were not even part of the the real "McCarthy era" but in the liberal myth all "Red baiting" is from McCarthy.

The effect of this myth is profound. Even today a communist is not called a communist in our press but a leftist (like Berenson in a Peruvian Jail where she belongs.) A Leftist is at best called a liberal or a "moderate" by our press. And the term liberal has been hijacked by people who are totally anti liberal leftists and communists. Pat Robertson is more of a liberal than Tom Daschle or Ted Kennedy in the true meaning of the word!

There's just too many to count. I cannot fathom reducing the endless list to just one or even a handful of lies.

Nevertheless, a few of my favorites:

The Bush Recession

The Reagan deficit

Lockbox

Tax cuts for the "right" people and "...we know who the right people are." (as spoken by AlGore who apparently was an advocate of tax cuts while running for president. Come to think of it, so was Clinton which ammounts to another lie).

Police action

White males are racist by nature

hate crime

If it saves one life...

The government needs to .....

and so on...

I agree with all the choices listed here. My choice would be: "They all do it." This was a catchall phrase, aimed at getting Clinton off the hook for his moral lapses. The sheep loved it. If I had a dollar for every time I heard this little whopper during impeachment, I'd be a rich lady. I heard it from friends, members of my family, and wannabe cracker-barrel philosophers in just about every neighborhood store I visited. The phrase was always delivered with a little self-satisfied smile and a dismissive wave of the hand. No sir, those rascally Republican moralists weren't going to put anything over on them! They probably thought that saying the magic phrase made them sound knowing, hip and worldly-wise. Heck, they probably even thought they came up with it. No matter what Clinton scandal you brought up, the sheep had their answer: "They all do it." It was infuriating. Still is.

Adultery? "They all do it."
Campaign finance improprieties? "They all do it."
Crooked deals? "They all do it."
Abuse of power? "They all do it."

But isn't it funny, though, how "they" don't "all do it" whenever a Republican is accused of doing something wrong?

I don't agree with your commie assesment but I'll save my reply for another time. Right now, I can't stand the following:

"Clinton was a good president".

"Bush is stupid".

A liberal caught doing something illegal says, "The republicans did it first".

And finally, "Clinton was a good president".

...our government was indeed infested with Communists loyal to Stalin.

Turning your other cheek I'll suggest that your charge is not supported by the facts. Russian was an ally during the War.

Liberals talk as if McCarthy was the American equal of Stalin- a disgusting comparison and an immoral one.

No, Joe McCarthy was more like Torquemada, but I don't remember ever comparing him to Stalin. Hitler, maybe.

All the liberal "heroes" of that era have been exposed as spies

None of my liberal heroes were spies...or at least not against us. Try this on for size...Harry Truman and Ronald Reagan were the two most successful Presidents during the cold-war...partly due to their great respect for General George C. Marshall.

"Homosexuality is just as normal as heterosexuality, and you're evil if you don't agree."

"Racial profiling is always evil and wrong; therefore, cab drivers should be forced to pick up anyone who hails them, and little old Asian ladies must be searched at the airport because it would be mean-spirited to single out Middle Eastern males."

"All homeless people are wonderful, normal folks just like you who are merely down on their luck and would love to have jobs, and if only the government was not so cold and uncaring, and if only people would be less greedy and selfish and would reach into their pockets and give to organizations such as Comic Relief, homelessness would be eliminated."

"The media are not biased."

What is the biggest liberal lie ever?

Hillary Clinton.

Specifically, that she was one of the most successful and prominent female lawyers in the country ...

... and that she was some sort of towering intellect...

... and that she was any sort of "caring, sensitive person" who wanted to "help people."

I just had the scum (The dishonorable Adam Smith D WA) who pretends to represent me in congress tell me that his oath to uphold the constitution in no way should interfere with his votes to pass bills he acknowledges are unconstitutional.

I guess the copies of the constitution that he handed out before the meeting are irrelevant anachronisms or souvenirs from a long forgotten past because he demonstrated a complete lack of respect for the document and for the country.

My vote is clearly "women's liberation." Liberated from what? As a woman who once bought into the lie, I now watch our society deteriorate because women are not doing what God called them to do----hold the family together and provide the stability and guidance that every child and home needs to be healthy. Instead, many women are ripping it apart, and as the children of the first generation of liberated women now become adults, the disastor is evident. Priorities are self-serving and apathy and anger reign.

Wish we could turn back the clock...

The greatest liberal lie, the Death Lie, is that you can have a multicultural society, without an imperial police state to hold it together at bayonet point.
