MSNBC showed footage of a press conference and Michelle had two medals on her neck the bronze and the one given to her by Peggy Fleming.
She looked liked she was about to lose it..

Just another case of the liberal upbringing of many children these days. Everyone wins, no one is ever really a loser, no one is more skilled than anyone else, we all always win so no one feels bad, protect a child's fragile psyche at all costs.
When children are raised in this liberal bubble they become ungracious, self-serving adults.
Sometimes you win and sometimes you lose...no matter what the media has been proclaiming for days.

I have a little different take on Kwan. I think she's always been overrated, particularly regarding the difficulty of her program compared to others.
She also can't handle the pressure. The excuse is always that she's young - well, Tara Limpinski was young, too, but outskated Kwan 4 years ago. And I think the media support has nothing to do with her being Asian - it's more that she's deserving because she has seniority.
To: Clemenza
Michelle is Asian and one of the best of all time..a good combination for advertisers.

I have never been so inspired by an athelete as I was watching Sarah Hughes last night. She was simply supernatural and deserved the Gold without a doubt.
I totally agree and she was such a sweet and gracious winner. Michelle Kwan disappointed me - there was just something not very gracious about her - she almost had an attitude that she deserved the gold even before hitting the ice.
BTW doesn't Sarah Hughes look like she could be Reba McIntyre's daughter?! Looks just like that woman - but a younger version!

I don't think this is a liberal 'dumbing down' issue.
This is kind of like an initiation into the club.
To: SmartBlonde
The choking issue is coming to the fore now, especially since she won't 'go for it' when it counts.
She needs a sabbbatical..

Did you get a look at Peggy Flemming's face when Sarah won and not Michelle?Dunno about that. I told my wife when I saw her face that Peggy had done the math real fast and knew Sarah had won gold. My impression was she was delighted. Wish I had waited up for the medal ceremony.

Greedy? And what makes you think she is greedy? She is an athlete for heaven's sakes! What is so wrong with wanting to win medals? Isn't that why athletes compete? If you don't like her, fine, but please, be fair.
Yes, I am a big Kwan fan, have always been a fan ever since she first burst into the skating scene. You have no idea how much she has given to the sport of figure skating, not to mention helping secure THREE SPOTS FOR THE US LADIES EVERY YEAR by winning at the World Championships (all US ladies I believe should be on the top 12 or 15 to be able to send 3 ladies in the next championship). She has always been a very classy athlete and very respectful of her competitors. She has never said anything nasty or insulted any of them. She is an athlete with a lot of grace and class. You may want to keep that in mind.

I don't think this is a racial deal, she is the favorite and was expected not to fall.

Yeah.. When Mike Tyson bit off that chunck of ear it was... well... well, I just teared up I was so inspiring.

No sir, I believe that you are the one responding like a liberal seeing as you cannot tolerate any opinion different than your own. Your name calling & profanity simply add to that assesment.

Bye-bye Wheaties.

Did anyone else notice how Kwan pointed at the gold medal podium directing Hughes to the right spot? As if Hughes needed directing....there was just something surprisingly ungracious about Kwan and I was originally sorta hoping to see her win the gold. Wasn't Kwan the one who 4 years ago said "I didn't lose the gold -- I won the silver" It seems she needed a little of that attitude last night.

Women's Figure Skating is to sports what "chick flicks" are to legitimate cinema.

Kwan became a big media darling right after she did not win the GOLD at Nagano. She handled it with a lot of class and grace. She is one athlete who turned silver into gold! Kwan is a huge role-model for young ladies and she has my support as well as millions of fans all over the world, all the way, medals or no medals.

The only thing I didn't like was Michelle giving the 'thumbs down' to the judges in the short program regarding her marks because they were not to their liking.
But in terms of NBA and NFL behaviour it is nothing.
To: Timmy
Michelle Kwan lost. Get over it.

Don't forget how awe-inspiring it was when Roger Clemens threw the bat at Mike Piazza. Profiles in Courage perhaps.
To: TracyPA
If I wasn't on FR, I would think this was the Socialist web site with you condemning Kwan for not sharing the wealth.
