Most won't even SAY that he was beheaded, what's makes anyone think they would show the video????

I'm glad the news isn't saying he was beheaded. My little boy was upset when he found out that Danny Pearl was being held hostage. He really doesn't need to be listening to the radio and have an announcer come on talking about this. I'd prefer that he didn't know. It's already bad enough that the radio news had to describe in detail how that Yates sicko killed her 5 children and the prosecution showed their bloody pajamas to the jury. Can't kids even listen to the radio without being bombarded with news about death and child killings? It's sick.

I know what you mean. My son was upset and angry about his being held hostage. My son is 11 and has had the 'nuke em all' mentality. It's been hard trying to explain why we can't do that. He's been playing computer games in his room. I almost told him about the killing, then decided against it.

The Yates case, while shocking and horrific, is like many homocides: a murder case tied to family or friends. I don't know if there are national implications in this case but at this point I don't understand why it is a national news story.

The Pearl case deals with a journalist for a national publication, who was investigating groups tied to activities that threatened our country. He was kidnapped while in another country and killed brutally on camera.

To say that he is dead doesn't go far enough in describing what happened.

Having to repeatedly hear that Andrea Yates killed her kids doesn't change my day one way or the other (except maybe to bring me down a little bit). To hear that she chased her kids through the house doesn't improve the facts of the story. To hear that blood was on the bedsheet where she laid her childrens' bodies doesn't add to the story either.

So why do we hear all of the gory details in her case but not in Pearl's when journalists, businessmen, and tourists in foreign countries could all be subject to such brutality?
