Buzz should concentrate on the moon. The lunar surface is relativly close at a quarter million miles, and a lot of expoloration has yet to take place.

And best of all, a large optical telescope could be built on the lunar surface for studies of the earths surfaces and deep space research. If its a Hotel they want, it would be much easier to construct on the lunar surface than Mars.

The lunar surface could then be used as a stepping stone for Mars and beyond.

Absolutely, I could see the moon becoming a tourist destination in about thirty years. It would only be about a two week vacation. With Mars, this would be a two year vacation. I don't think too many people, no matter how wealthy they are, would sign on for that. Tourism will be the key motivator for the initial development of the moon. Private enterprise will be what draws us back to the moon, not a big government program. We tried that once and proved that government efforts aren't sustainable.
