I took it that she was scorning the American "meritocracy" by her linked comments in #40.

>And what the 'hay' is the School of Education & Information Studies...and what would you do with a graduate degree in it?

That's a fair question. I received a Doctorate in Education at UCLA about 30 years ago. That's before they added "& Information" to the title, whatever that's supposed to mean.

I was at war with part of the graduate faculty all the time. They threw up roadblocks to try and stop me from graduating since I was obviously WAY too far to the right, asked all the wrong questions, finished the coursework and dissertation too quickly, and clearly was not in synch with the department.

But I beat the silly bastards, and after being a College Dean for awhile formed my own business, became independently wealthy, and retired at 50. Also served on the Board of Regents of a fine Private College for 12 years, and raised all sorts of hell with some faculty.

That's what THIS graduate degree holder did. Living well is the best revenge.

"Is anyone ever happy with a selected commencement speaker?"

William Bennett spoke at my commencement in 1984. What a wonderful parting gift that was from the great folks at Northern Michigan University! Go Wildcats!

These dips are of the same mentality as those who screamed out "Free Barabbas!" This is the sort of thing the rest of the country expects out of California Higher Education, however. I hope President Bush takes this personally and punishes California in the subtle ways a President can for the insulting and juvenile behavior exhibited by these would-be californican doctors of education.

She might be a PhD candidate (with weak writing skills!), but she sure doesn't identify herslf in any way as an American - and she plans a career of influencing the education of others, most likely with US taxpayer dollars. Scary!

Let's face it, they don't want her to speak, not because Laura's not qualified, but because she is a Bush. You see, she's the wife of the President of the United States, who is an evil Republican. They hate Republicans, because they're so eeeevvvvvviiiillll.

Republicans want to starve old people and kill children, or is it kill old people and starve children (Geesh, I can never get my talking points down right)?

Democrats are good. Look at Clinton's poll numbers in the minority community. Still sky-high. Republicans all have white sheets in their closets, even if they appointed a black man to the highest cabinet position in any administration to date. Hey, he's just an Uncle Tom, that Colin Powell. Condi Rice? An Aunt Tom! Because a TRUE minority would be a democrat ONLY. Any conservative views or opinions they hold are self-hate. These types of views should be, must be, made illegal. If they speak, it hurts me, and I consider it hate!

Laura Bush is married to the EVIL Republican President, who while Governor of Texas, failed to sign into law a hate crimes bill, that was just like murdering my father all over again.

Recent commencement speakers at UCLA: Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Michael Dukakis, Jesse Jackson, Edie Wasserman (wife of liberal Lew Wasserman), Richard Riley (former Education Secretary under Clinton). These people are all more qualified to speak then the thoroughly delightful genteel Laura Bush?! Yeah. SURE!! Laura should turn these idiots down flat!!! Anyone think they would have had any problem with the witch from Arkansas when she was 1st "lady"?

She should go and "kill them with kindness". She is popular with the people and this will help drive a wedge between the avg. folks and the liberal educrats. What better way to show the world, and swing voters, how hatefull and extremist liberals can be than to go there, be nice, and let the rabble display themselves on TV for all to see.

Above is what I posted on the other thread that is now locked by the admin moderator NAZI. LOL just teasing Mr./MS. moderator.

Re your #6 on the truncated thread: Remember the throngs of supposedly commited students who didn't show up to counter our Bush demos at the Federal Building, while UCLA is only barely across the street? They evidently had other things to do.

How dare you people deny the students of UCLA the right to have a speaker who's message is worthless and will do them absolutely no good. Why there are plenty of murderers, drug users, and race pimps who probably haven't spoken there yet. Don't you care about the children? Sob. ( How's this for a lib impression )

These beds wetters want a leftist speaker, the kind without a tenative grasp of reality. End of story

You all might be interested in seeing who was the Commencement Speaker at UCLA's Business School last year.

Okay, I'll jest tell you: It was Gary Winnick, Chairman and Founder of Global Crossing Ltd.

... And for the general student body, last year's speaker was piano-playing funnyman Randy Newman -- a known educator with plenty of 'merit'.

Maybe this year they'd rather hear from the high school drop out, Cher?

Since it's well known that School of Education students fall, shall we say, on the wrong side of the Bell Curve, methinks they are afraid the First Lady will use too many big words, and make their heads hurt.

I'd love to hear Dr. Thomas Sowell's comments on this twit and her "department". He's had some good comments on the level of intelligence of "students" in our "schools of education".

Obviously, she'd rather hear Angela Davis - a woman of "color".
