Thank you. I did not see the show; and what you've reported is newsworthy in the context that Shays has confirmed what many of us have believed, if not known for fact. Well done, JL

Now that they've come right out and told us that they're corrupt,
why would any sane person want these corrupt indviduals to 'fix' the system?

Perhaps Ann Coulter will run against Shays next time around? Wouldn't Ann make the Senate interesting!

Oh, my bad. Shays is in the House. No matter, Ann would still be a heckuva Senator.

LOL!
Last time I really listened to Shay's was before the Clinton impeachment vote, when he staged the phoney Town Hall Meeting to hear how his constituents wanted him to vote. It was a farce.

And why didn't they ban ALL soft money?Because the DNC has need of $10,000,000.00 to pay off campaign debt. Little dickie gephart and pals are on a 'round-the-country tour trying to get $100,000,000.00 into the DNC coffers by Sept. 1, 2002.
Oh, wait, my mistake. Soft money contributions to a national party to pay off debt don't count under CFR.

Look, anyone who spends that much time and effort on a law to "prohibit corruption" has to be corrupt. What he's saying is that he's not strong enough to resist temptation and therefore there must be a law to keep him from giving in.
Anyone with any character would not be corrupted, would do what is right, and if they can't they shouldn't be in congress. How can you trust people with a multi-billion dollar budget if they can be corrupted by a few campaign contributions. VOTE THEM OUT!
To: kattracks
If Shays is so darn concerned about corruption, why doesn't he propose term limits? The only way to fix the system is to get rid of the crooks every couple of years. Right now, the only thing that matters to them is how much money they can steal and how they can stay in power.

I heard it on the radio and couldn't believe it. Rep. Shays let the cat out of the bag. Wow! He has put himself in a world of political hurt now.
If he is a true servant of his constituents and to the American public it is his duty to make public the names of each and everyone of the Congressmen and Senators that have made deals with evil corporations that influenced their vote. This is a crime Rep. Shays is alleging. If he withholds that information, he is guilty of conspiracy to cover up the crime of selling legislative votes.
Rep. Shays needs to either recant his statement in a press release or turn over the names of these legislators over to the FBI or the Congressional Ethics committees so this serious crime can be investigated.

John Mc Lame stated on the floor of the U.S. Senate that he had been corrupted by the system. He also said that there were several others, but when Sen. Mc Connell challenged him to name them, his yellow streak showed. So much for honesty and integrity!

Help me out here: wasn't there another time when Mr. Shays went on TV or radio and insinuated some other scandal and never produced?
I wonder what the other people in Congress think about Shays and McCain saying that they are all crooks.

I believe what Shays said is true, but I still don't understand the sheer stupidity of them admitting that unless there is a law, they won't stop.

Exactly. Admitting that they are so corrupt they cannot and will not stop. It's mingboggling, IMO.

See, there was this one guy who voted not to impeach a politician whom he believes is a rapist at roughly the same time that his wife was given a nice cushy Executive-branch government job.Oh, you put it so-o-o nicely!
To: boomop1
If the system is so corrupt why are they waiting until after this election cycle to uncorrupt it? Because they need enough time to figure out a way around the new system.
