Wow, that is amazing. An earlier thread said that Damon acted put out that he had wasted a day in the desert. These folks are just not coming clean. I know it is out there, but what about the Satanic angle, with Feb 2, 02/02/02 being a high occultic holy day? Just thinking out loud.....FresnoDA

Ok Hildy, relax, I fold on the engineer contract thing. More interested in your take since you are in the area. Let me rephrase the question. Does Damon VD make the scratch to support his apparent life style, $400K home, (don't know what kind of vehicles they drive, do you?) Plus Brenda stays home all week, getting ready for the weekend fun. So, my question Hildy, do they sell "relaxants" to the SWNG CROWD, or is there another angle not yet revealed?

So actually, I may have been generous in estimating that Damion made $75K annually. I wonder where they get their other money, from the motivational tapes perhaps??? I don't think so.....

i have no idea.

some people are better at the negotiating process with salaries than others, its been a few years since 1997, and how many years of experience does damon have?--10 years?

so, maybe he makes $75k but that's BEFORE taxes.

maybe he made some profits on his previous houses.

getting ready for her weekend "thing" and he travels a lot

Maybe she has a weekday thing going on too which brings in money, a home-business that keeps her busy until the weekend comes?

I worked in the wireless industry- my last wireless experience was network design. The engineers make good money, but usually not more than the 60 to 80K. If they are straight contractors, they might make somewhat more, but have absolutely no benefits. Medical, dental, and assorted benefits add up. I didn't know any engineers with a 400K house AND a stay-at-home spouse and kids. Not even close. I'm in Seattle and the cost of living is a little bit lower but not much. It's strange that their house in TX was for sale for just over 100K and then they moved up to over 400K.

They had some sort of newish SUV in their driveway; don't remember what kind. I agree that there is something slightly fishy about the finances.

She doesn't sound like a woman with many limitations or inhibitions ---she could probably bring in quite a bit of money selling instead of giving it all for free. In one of the articles it mentioned her with a guy in the parking lot at the bar ---isn't that worth some kind of money?

yeah, you're right...it is strange.

the san diego lifestyle is not cheap; it's near the top of the food chain in places rated almanac. a move to san diego from out of state, az, tx, or fl, would require a hefty salary increase.

When my wife and I were young (prekids) we used to do the weekend party scene, docile compared to these cats...But if you do a dinner on Fri/Sat with adult beverages, you are easily at $100-150 per weekend. Again, the VD lifestyle simply does not add up. Maybe he has a really high power bill, that may be running a lot of Flourecsent Lamps somewhere??? HHHMMMM......Thank's for the real world update from Seattle.

Why is Damon out in the desert and not knocking on Westerfield's door? Damon is certainly acting as if he believes Westerfield is the perp. Would a search of Westerfield's cell phone records (assuming he has any) inform the police better as to his timeline? Would Damon have ways of accessing those records? Would Damon have ways of changing or deleting his own cell phone records and those of his wife and friends (if needed)? Does cell phones have ID codes that could be changed to cover up criminal evidence? Would a cell phone engineer be able to pull that off? Would that make him a valuable commodity to the "right people"?

Wouldn't doubt it, but those type of newer houses don't really have the place to hide things. All the stories of people I've ever read or heard about people making money on that kind-of gardening either lived in rural areas and could have greenhouses or had big basements or attics (not usually included in new houses on this coast.) Maybe high power bills for web-cam use? Why not charge people to view the hobbies you enjoy?

I have no experience with webcams, myself! (Of course, I wouldn't mind a bigger house- haha!) But- we know he is internet/web savvy enough to have been posting on internet forums for at least a few years. (Unlike we Freepers! LOL!)

We also know that something might have happened in the last couple years to push their earning potential up so they would sell a 100K house and buy a 400K house. I find it hard to believe that they were living under their means before and now stretching it to the limit- peoples' financial behavior is usually pretty consistent throughout their lives- and if anything, becomes more conservative. A 4x's pay-raise is hard to believe...

AND- we also know he and his wife weren't shy about sharing their ummmm... more discreet body parts with others!

There's another angle that's bothering me. Westerfield, a design engineer, would probably hit it off with Damon van Dam, another engineer who's seems to have many interests in the tech field. Usually in a neighborhood those with like interests seek each other out to compare notes.

Westerfield, supposedly makes his money on inventions and at his own design company, but again here we have a case of a person whose visible income may not match his lifestyle. House, SUV and motorhome, possible child support payments and frequent trips all over the southern california desert.

Has anyone found a website for Westerfield's company "Spectrum Design"?

I wonder how and when Westerfield found out about the Van Dam's swinging? There is more to this than just Westerfield meeting Brenda at Dad's.

And another thing...Westerfield originally was very open and candid with police until Brenda contradicted his account of dancing with her at Dad's. At that point he clammed up and hired a lawyer. It seems like he was thinking "uh oh, the van Dams are going back on our agreed apon story, they are going to hang me out to dry!".

I wonder if the van Dams were facing financial trouble over the past few months and were casting about for money making opportunities. Perhaps Westerfield proposed a solution to their needs (but it was illegal), and given their moral decreptitude involved Danielle. Then something went terribly wrong.

Perhaps her small body was wrapped up and went out with the trash to the landfill, but Westerfield decided to lay a false trail across the width of California and back to confuse searchers and the van Dams are playing along.

Rememeber that Pierce fellow with the Millenium Children's fund, who felt something was very wrong when he spent a few hours with the van Dams. They quibbbled over the award money he was going to offer.
